Two holes are required for trenchless pipe replacement. 3/4″ plywood is used to protect the work grounds. The first hole is where your pipe exits the building and the second hole is at your property line where the municipal connection is made. Both holes are approximately 4’x4’ square. A hydraulic powered pulling device is lowered into one of the holes and in the other hole, a high-density iron fused polyethylene pipe is lowered in with a large splitting head attached. A feed chain is pulled through the existing pipe between each launch hole. One end of the feed chain is attached to the hydraulic device and the other end is attached to the splitting head on the new pipe. The hydraulic device pulls the new pipe through the existing pipe. The existing pipe is split, and splinters into the ground. Once the new pipe is pulled into the hole with the hydraulic device, then a connection with a clean out is made at both the building and municipal connection points. Connection points are both bedded with gravel and holes are backfilled while being compacted in lifts to prevent settlement. Work areas where holes were required are restored. Work areas, including the road, are pressure washed.
