Sewer Backup

  • Do not panic! A sewer backup is usually controllable.
  • Stop draining any water and flushing toilets (this will stop the flood from worsening).
  • Call one of our experienced service technicians immediately.
  • If sewer has breached fixtures and flooded the house, also call your insurance provider.
  • Do not attempt to clean and handle areas flooded with sewer waste without proper protection as sewage contains lots of bacteria and can make you sick.

Storm Drain Flood

  • Do not panic!
  • Call one of Royal Rooter Plumbing & Drain Cleaning’s experienced service technicians immediately.
  • You can attempt to divert your downspouts from your house to slow the flood down.
  • If you have a pump, then use it and direct discharge away from the house while waiting for us to arrive.
  • Do not enter flooded rooms that may have submerged electrical components, including outlets and extension cords.
  • Call your insurance provider.

Water Line Break

  • Do not panic!
  • If the leaking water line is inside the house, then immediately turn off your main interior water.
  • If leaking is outside the house but is entering your house, then call your municipal water works department as well as our service technicians. The first responder will shut the water off at the meter.
  • If the line is leaking outside the house and not flooding into your home, then call one of our service technicians for rapid service.
  • Call one of our experienced service technicians immediately.
  • If the water damage is excessive, then you may want to call your insurance provider as well.
  • Do not turn the shut off back on until we arrive.

Hot Water Tank Leak

  • Do not panic!
  • Turn off the shut off located on the cold water line above the tank.
  • If there is no shut off above the tank, then turn off the main water valve.
  • Turn off the electrical breaker for the hot water tank.
  • Call one of our experienced service technicians immediately.
  • If damage is excessive, then call your insurance provider as well.

Storm Drain Tiles
Every homeowner should protect their investment by routinely having a maintenance cleaning of their drain tile done. It is suggested that a routine cleaning be done once every 1 to 3 years, depending on the age of the system and the root growth on the property.

Experts recommend scheduling a video inspection of your sewer line in order to determine the current condition and material of your sewer line. Being proactive is very important to prevent an emergency. A video inspection will help determine what kind of a regular maintenance schedule may be required, mainly based on what amount of root infiltration has occurred within the pipe. We also check what material your sewer line is made of. If you have a house built from 1945 to 1965, you are at a high risk of owning a “no-corrode” sewer line. The no-corrode pipe is made of tar paper and is imperative for every homeowner to know if they have a no-corrode sewer line. No-corrode pipe loses its integrity, it ovals in shape, deteriorates at a rapid rate and forms large blisters within the pipe. All of these things lead to a back-up.

Hot Water Tanks
Check your installation date of your existing tank. Tanks generally offer a 5 year manufacturer’s warranty. If your tank is 5 years old or older, call us in order to make an appointment for a tank replacement. After 5 to 8 years, a hot water tank may fail at any time. You’ll risk less damage to your property if your tank is installed on a proper drain pan and connected to your drainage system. Being proactive is crucial in order to protect your home and its investments.
